Batille Day!
Today Fordell School celebrated Bastille Day which is called La FĂȘte Nationale and le quatorze juillet (the fourteenth of July). It celebrates the storming of the Bastille prison which symbolised the end of the French Monarchy. On the 14th July 1789, there were only 7 inmates but the following year, this day was chosen to symbolise freedom in France and became a national holiday. As a conclusion to our school wide French inquiry on France, we have celebrated Bastille day with balloons, streamers, French music and food. We all dressed up as someone or something French and have had a wonderful day sharing our findings about France.
