Ryan's writing group has been learning about using different sentence beginnings.

Ryan's Sentence Openers.
Use a connective:
After a while, the bus came zooming in to a stop.
Use an “ing” clause:
Zooming down the stairs came Ryan.
Use an “ed” clause:
Surprised as he saw the giant stare in the fence.
 Use a simile:
Fast as a rocket he sprinted down the road.
Use an adverb:
Cautiously he opened the prank tin.
Use one word:
Annoyed, he walked home after losing the bball game.
Use “but” for emphasis:
But the monster was still waiting anxiously for the little boy.
